One of the strengths of the Toastmasters organisation is the diversity of its membership. Recently, Greer McGearey and Colin Hall of Whitehorse Toastmasters spoke on the Youtube channel, Bent TV. They discussed diversity within their club and what it means to its members.
Diversity is a vital and important part within this organisation. It has helped to make Toastmasters stronger and better, and is even stated within our club constitution and our Toastmasters core values. As our constitution states, no individual can be exluded from membership on the basis of, ‘race, color, creed, gender, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, or physical or mental disability.’ In addition, the diversity of our organisation is tied in directly with our Core Values, which are:
- Integrity
- Respect
- Service
- Excellence
